There is no shortage of things to do in the local area but when it comes to the best things to do this summer in Basingstoke, this list should keep you and your loved ones entertained and occupied.
Horseshoe Lake Activity Centre
If you and your loved ones are keen to test your skills on the water or want to take to the open seas, this is an excellent activity centre. With dinghies, kayaks, canoes and even the chance to build your own raft as a team-building and family bonding exercise, this is a centre that will keep you busy all day and talking all summer long.
Sticking with the water theme, but providing you with an indoor option, you’ll find that the Aquadrome is a great place to spend a day or most of the summer. With flumes, bubble pools, rapid rides and a toddler’s area, there should be something for everyone. There is also a gym, disco areas and even a café when you need to rest and recuperate.
Planet Ice Arena
If things get a little too hot this summer, cool down by heading to the Planet Ice Arena. With lessons for new skaters and a range of classes and planned activities, you’ll find that this is a venue that has something for everyone over the summer months.
On a sunny day in summer, there are few places better in Basingstoke than The Vyne. This glorious Tudor home provides you with stunning gardens and a range of walking trails. If your youngsters are interested in animals and creatures, the Woodpecker Trail will be of interest while many others will be delighted to walk in the same grounds that inspired authors like Jane Austen.
JJ’s World Of Fun
If the weather is working against you, you need to have a range of places you can keep the kids dry and occupied. JJ’s World OF Fun, as the name suggests, provides you with a range of entertaining activities that enable kids to crawl, climb, dig and jump in the manner you would expect a soft play arena to allow.
Eastrop Park Summer band concerts
With these live shows running until the end of July, there is still a chance to head along to Eastrop Park and enjoy live music for free. Hopefully the weather will provide the perfect backdrop for great gigs and a social atmosphere with Hannington Silver Band, Tadley Concert Brass and Saxophony all lined up to play before the end of July.
Taste at the Top of the Town
On Sunday the 31st of July, and running as part of the Hampshire Food Festival, there will be a chance to enjoy local produce, shop from high quality market stalls and meet top chef Brian Turner at the Market Place. There will also be street theatre and entertainment on offer at this event which runs from 10am to 5pm.
Capability Brown: Master of the Landscape
If you like to think that you are green fingered and are looking for some inspiration, this exhibition showcases the work of one of the leading landscape designers in Britain. Brown is said to have been responsible for changing the face of England in the 18th Century and the exhibition in his honour runs until the end of August.
No matter how much free time you have or what constitutes fun to you and your family, there are many things to do this summer in Basingstoke.
